Hello,
Can someone help identify these parts? I'm getting white/blue smoke from tail pipe when I start the vette and I'm trying to hunt down why. Started investigating under the car and in the engine compartment and I found a few items of interest. Apologies but I am completely new to this and not a mechanic. I know a few of the pics would have nothing to do with it, but I found the items interesting and I couldn't figure out from Chilton's what they were. Here we go... :)
This is directly under master cylinder. Seems to be mushy and corroded. Should this be looked into? (Below)
This picture is engine compartment directly behind belts. Seems there is a leak or was once a bad leak. Thoughts? (Below)
This pic is taken undercarriage passenger-side. What is this? (Below)
This is a pic undercarriage driver-side near oil filter. Pretty messy, not sure why. Cannot tell if its old mess or new. (Below)
Finally, pic from passenger-side. Oil Pan leak? Or Trans Pan? The fluid did seem reddish in color so I'm thinking trans? (Below)

First picture is the steering coupler and yes it should be replaced. It connects the steering wheel to the steering box. This will cause loose steering.

2nd picture is the intake manifold. Oil can leak if the front seal is bad. You will need to remove the intake manifold and reseal it.
3rd picture is the heat riser spring that opens the exhaust manifold when the motor is warmed up from a cold start. Lots of folks have removed it but if the butterfly valve is moving freely then it does no harm.
4th picture mess could be a small leak from above, either the valve cover or the intake manifold. Clean the area and watch it to see where it is coming from. If you are fixing the leak in the 2nd picture then you may be fixing this leak at the same time.
5th Picture could be a leak from the rear main seal. They always leak a little over time so clean the area and see just how bad it is.

Awesome thank you so much!! Your points make complete sense. I will begin cleaning up under there and watching for leaks.

I agree wid Brian's assessments.The leak(last pic) could be a combination of rear main AND front trans. I would suggest removing the trans dust cover(big black sheet metal cover) and have a look-see up in there. A trans pan leak can run down the dust cover and make you think the front seal/pump is leaking. Best to remove the cover and see for sure.
The other wet/moist leaky areas are fairly common....valve covers, front/rear intake seals, yadayada...
Just one of those things...you'll just have to decide which one is worse, and start there, then go down the line until you have everything sealed up. By then there will be other things marking their spot on the driveway...

I think that's the exhaust on the driver's side. You can see the lower A arm by the tire.

I think that is an aftermarket drain plug replacement....looks like one of those used for stripped out threads....
