Vette(s): 1971 convertible,375 HP 350ci,Muncie 4-speed,Edelbrock aluminum heads and RPM air-gap manifold,HEI distrubiter - old school mechanical tach drive. LOUD side exhaust!
Look what showed up this morning!Clap Going to try to get it in the car next weekend.Wink I do have one question. The edelbrock heads have the D shaped exhaust ports. Will I have any problems using my brand-spanking-new hooker side exhaust headers with the oval ports? Confused jgoglick2006-11-13 19:29:46

Looks GUD, John! Be sure to save all them orange & pink stickers for the future restoration purposes!!!

Cain't say for sure on the header delimma...have ya axed the engine builder, or Hooker rep.? If the ports line up, it may be fine...this I don't really know. I would probably run 'em. May be a minor loss of engine output, but, probably not that much.

We made good progress today. Got the trans and engine mated up ready to go into the car. We'll tackle that tomorrow.

That air cleaner, carb and manifold will be a tight fit.   When you get the hood back on be real carefull when you close it for the first time.  I've got an Edelbrock performer manifold with Holley 600 and a low profile air cleaner and it JUST fits with the standard hood.  Looks like you have an LT-1 hood so you may not have problems.  Just a warning that's all.

Update - 11/10/06

Engine and transmission are in. They went in great. Plenty of room to get them in as one unit. Yes Joel, we took out the spark plugs (although we did almost wait too long LOL). It went pretty smoothly. A few observations:

1. The clutch bar is a pain to get in the first time. After you do it, it's not too bad.
2. Engine mount bolts are a pain in the Censored.
3. The removable transmission cross member is a real Censored. We had real trouble getting it back in.

We're making a parts run tomorrow and continue work. A couple pics below.

Thanks for the tip Chips - I've been eyeing that air cleaner all day...
