Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.
I got the '69 back from the shop today, looks good. It was bored .030 and had a Crane H272 cam installed. The only problem is it has less low range torque and power than with the stock 300 hp cam. The garage said my vac advance was bad, would this cause this much of a difference (it was bad with the old cam too) Or is this a charestic of this cam? It has good midrange power, it's just a pooch on the low end.

Thanks,
Matt

Vette(s): 69 Conv #'s match 427, TKO-600/.64, 3.36HD-Posi, HT, T/T, PS, PB, PW, SP, Leather, Comp XE264HR & Roller Rockers & Lifters, Air-Gap RPM intake, Holley St Av 770 VS, MSD 6AL+Dist+Blaster SS, K&N, Jet-Hot Hooker Side-Pipes, Steeroids, Al Rad, Spal Fans
its really a characteristic of the cam. you installed a longer duration horsepower cam.

an example is the 300,350,and 370 hp 350's

they all had identical blocks with the same casting number.

they all produced 380 lbs of torque.

where they produced it was another matter entirely.

the 300hp had the best torque curve.. which is much more important than hp in the low end.

the 350hp was pretty well balanced, while the 370hp was a dog in the low end but wild on the top end.

to compensate for this you might want to try increasing your valve lift. (1.6 ratio rockers if your running 1.52)
