This may sound weird, but my '69 427 Stroker has no Temp Sending device.  I bought this car last June (2018), drove it for 2 months, then started a fairly major reconditioning to include all wiring harnesses, new interior, door parts, new leds in & out, and many others.  Was going to change out the temp sender, along with the new front body wiring harness but can't find the old one any where!  I've scoured the engine from top to bottom, had friends crawl all over the engine.  No one can find it!  So...trying to remember if I had temp readings when I drove it...no luck...can't remember.  Hey, I'm retired!  3,000 miles ago the previous owner had the engine/transmission overhauled, to include boring the cylinders out.  Any ideas?

It exists on the right side of the engine between 4 & 6 Embarrassed!   It's wire connection goes directly to the blower motor and then thru the firewall, to the connxn for the temp gauge.  The new front body wiring harness has a connxn that extends as far as the cylinder # 1 & 3 area. Think I'll use that new connxn location & just leave the old one in place...I don't know...what do you think?
Who'd a thunk?  I can't believe that I missed that so bad!  Anyway...thanks to all who replied to my "dilemma".  That's what this forum is all about.

Welcome to the forum. IIRC, it's located on the side of the cylinder head on the driver's side. But then it's been a decade since I worked on my friend's '66 427. I would look for a small pipe plug that's been screwed into the hole in the cylinder head. It might be on either cylinder head.

Since you are doing a lot of work on your '69, you should get an AIM if you don't already have one.

I've had one before I bought this '69.  In fact, I have 2 of them now.  Thanks.

I'll bet there's a plugged hole between 4 & 6 that might be where the original engine had the sensor. That would explain your new harness.
