What did your exhaust sound like, I had kinda the same problem with my 454. I am still working on mine. I adjusted mine too. I tighten it down till it stop the noise an then put a quarter turn on it. What did you do. Mine still has a miss in it.

Try narrowing it down to a single rocker arm if possible, by checking each rocker arm for play individually by slowly turning the engine over and checking for any verticle play in the pushrod when the cam is on base circle, it takes a while to do this and is best done with the plugs out of the engine and the battery disconnected (no ignition power), makes it much easier to turn over by hand.
