I decided upgrade my 71's distributor and coil with a Pert. Ing. II electonic ignition and Flame Thrower II coil as well. At first the car was running well, but then stalled. The car is now difficult to start and runs poorly.

I noticed that the engine manifold on the passenger side is not hot. Which probably mean I'm running on half the clyinders.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

The firing order is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2
Cylinders are from front to back on the drivers side, 1,3,5,7 Pass side front to back, 2,4,6,8

If you have a dual plane intake manifold the left (dr side) of the carb feeds cyls 1,4,6,7
the right side of the carb feeds 2,3,5,8

By looking at what cylinders are firing or not you can see if it's a fuel problem or the more likely ign problem. Usually when you do a mod, and something goes flop, look back where you where.

It's easier if you draw yourself a diagram so you can picture which is which in the sequence.

I would check for burned wires, burned cap or rotor, and check the pickup installed in the dist.

I hope this helps a bit.

I'll have a look this weekend.

FYI...I noticed that it was first the #2 clyinder and then 4,6 & 8 that were not firing (cool to the touch).

Wires, Cap and plugs looked fine and the rotor is new. I guess I'll start with the dist pick up. Perhaps it needs to be re-adjusted. Strange, since the dr side is firing.

Thanks Ken,

I'll take a stab at this.

I'm not totally sure, but this you may have blown the module in the pertronix piece. I believe you have to remove the resistor wire for these to work correctly. I would call the mfg, as they can tell you for sure.

yeah, swap your points back in and see if it fires on all 8..

you may need to pull the plugs on that side and let them dry off... they may be fouled by fuel now...

Okay...She's alive!
Replaced the Cap, points, and rotor. Now I just have to adjust the timing.

Thank you all for your advice.
