Vette(s): 1980 with 1996 LT1 engine
The 350 in my 1980 was really on it's last legs last fall and I had planned on doing a rebuilt over the winter. Started to take it a part and found it was in worse shape than I had planned. Found an LT1 out of a 96 Camero and decided to give it a try. Replaced cam, lifters, rockers, removed the injection and replace with a carb. In the process of taking out the engine found that the suspension needed work so I replaced it with a monoleaf system. The bracket for the Alt, AC and power steering pump that was on the LT1 won't fit. New brackets... While we were at we rebuilt the transmission.

The engine dropped right in. Now were are tying to get it all hooked back up.

The long of it is that a relatively 'small' job has turned into a much larger project. So what ever direction you go be prepared for 'surprises'

Good luck. |wink|

I've been looking for a new crate as well and checked out this place. So far from what I can tell and the excellent response to my questions from them, this looks like the place I might go with.

Have you purchased from them or know someone who has? I'd be interested in hearing their experience.

Thanks!

P.S. If anyone knows a good place in the NYC/NJ/CONN area that could do the swap for me, let me know!

Engine factory sent me a VHS tape showing their engine build technics.Whats funny is at the beginning, they showed an engine running as they pulled it from one of their wooden crates,a 383. |biggrin|
