Just noodling a bit (and dreaming again!).  I didn't do an exhaustive search to see if there were other threads on the topic.  Wondering what options are out there for replacing the Crossfire's twin injector system.  I know several '82 owners have pulled the engine completely and replaced it with a crate of some sort but wondering if all of that is really necessary.  Would it be as simple as swapping out the intake manifold and putting a TBFI unit on.  Just curious.  Ermm

Hello Jim, I have to ask why would you consider removing the crossfire setup? Troubles with drivability? Looking for a little more umph under the hood?

Edelbrock has their 4 Gen Pro Flo system out now. Improved and self learning. That is a multiport injection system.
Holley Sniper EFI is a good one too. They just released a Q-jet version of their throttle body.
Then there is the option of having the stock throttle bodies reworked and bored out along with a Renegade intake mainfold that it a direct performance upgrade for the '82-'84 crossfire engines.

I hope your travels went ok. Sorry I didn't get back to you, a few things came up and I completely got sidetracked. My apologies. Oh and I did talk with old Ken a couple weeks ago. We had a nice long conversation. It was good to talk to him. I let like 2 years slip by. I guess I'm really bad with time management. yikes!

Hey Sarge - no worries, know you're busy.  The travels went ok.  Still had the loss of power issue in "Da Barge" on the return trip (15 MPH in 1st gear with foot to the floor climbing the mountains to get back home).  Assuming it is the catalytic converter so will be working on that when the weather allows.  Also looking to replace the fuel pump and relay.  After that there should be no reason for the 460 to be such a SLUG...!!!

The reason for asking about the Crossfire was just that it is an old system and finding ANY "Bowtie" garage that can service it is getting harder and harder.  And I'm sure that the 350 would perform at tad better with a newer fuel delivery system on top of it.

I'm not in the market (yet) but have given some thought to a CE at some point.  It will never replace "The Beast" as a grand road tripper but it will be very close.

btw - the FI-Tech TBFI will be going "BLKBRRD" this winter.  If you need a break from plowing come on out and give me a hand!  Wink
