Mike....

Your pan looks like the one at GM parts. The drain plug is on the right.  My drain plug (whats left of it) is on the left along with the dip stick.

Rich....Confused
??? The drain is on the left, drivers side, same as the dipstick.

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary model. Original L82 engine, 700r4 trans, edelbrock intake, thorly headers, rack&pinion steering, mono rear and front spring, MSD 6A box
Watch those after market types.  Mine had one on it and when I Conveted to rack & pinion it rubbed the rubber boot.  Went to a moroso 7 quart and could'nt be happier.  Be sure to get a one piece rubber gasket they help with the leaks our older vettes  have.

Mike....That's a BIG yup !!

It's on the left.....Figure that one Confused !!  ???? drivers side ????...along with the stick.

It has the shallow end toward the front of car and the deep end toward the rear. The plug is on the left side in the forward area of the deep portion which would be mid-way down the side of the pan. That make sense??

Dang, I wish my Digital wasn't on the fritz.

Also,  the dip stick hits something the last quarter inch before it seats...it does seat all the way.

For some reason, I had the pan flipped around in my head. Everything is as it should be. I'll get a new pan with one piece gasket and check out everything in there.

Went to Moroso and checked their pans.
