Has anyone done or know of any engine performance mods to the '82 Crossfire FI? I've considered a crate motor.

I've always wanted to keep mine as original as possible too.

I tried to keep mine that way for 4 years I battled it. Last winter I put in a ZZ4 crate motor and got rid of all the computer crap. Now I have more time to drive & enjoy it and it's reliable now.
That's just my take, you need to go your own way, Good Luck with it.

I thought of doing the same thing. It runs pretty good now being all original but I know that I'll get to a point where the upgrades will be necessary.

How did you get rid of the computer? Is the motor carburated or fuel injected?

What else have you done to yours?

The engine is carburated. I disconnected the computer stuff. Kept the electric fuel pump, & added a regulator. New radiator with dual electric fans, no mechanical fan. Serptine belt with all new accessories. I took the sensors for the gages from the old engine and installed in the new one. Everything works fine. The headers/side pipes ment loosing the Cat & the O2 sensor(don't need without computer). I have Historic plates so I do not have to go to inspection. If you still need to go thru that then you need the Cat. The suspension, brakes, trans, are all new. New rear with 3.55:1 gears. All new or redone interior.

That's about it in a nut shell, phewI'm tired!
