If you still have points you are really missing an incredible upgrade. I've had for about 5 years with no problems. It is very easy to replace. CAr starts quicker and can take the higher rev's better than points. I also put in the Pertronix coil and wires.
This project is one you will be very pleased with.

Thanks for the advice Charlie, ill make the effort ..
you know how it is .. if it aint broke..
im happy with it on points and it does run sweet but can be a bit slow to fire after being left for a week or so and i think its low coil voltage thats doing it
Thanks again!!

Hi
I also drive a PERTONIX 1 in my 68 BB , one summer without problems so far.
I understood that it's the PERTRONIX 2 model that fails more often, not so much the 1.
Good luck. Gunther

I installed a Crane Cams XR-1 Points to Electronic Ignition Converter kit in my 73 Vette.Very simple 2-wire hook-up,has adjustable rev limiter.Quicker starts,no dwell to mess with and best of all, no point float at high RPM.Belive me I tried it! Had it in my car now 2yrs,no problems.
