I installed the pertronix II ignition system in my stock distributor giving me electronic ignition with the stock look. also added their 45000 volt coil and 7mm wires hooked on to AC Rapid fire plugs. This is a 350/270 hp 1971 coupe that ran well before change and runs even better now. My idle went up 300 rpm from original setting and engine seems to be very smooth, set idle back to specs and have notice slight increase in power through out rpm range. Would recomend this to anyone who would like to get away from points and keep a very stock look. I puchased all parts over internet for just under $170.00 delivered. The plug wires followed original path so all ignition shielding went back on no problems.

Chris I also have the Petronixs, I installed it a few years ago, I didn't use ther boost coil but another version, works well. I have heard some problems with them occasionally, so I keep a set of points wraped up with a screwdriver and a feeler gauge in the glove box, judt in case I could always go back it it went SNAFU

I also will probally be linking it into either a MSD 6 possibbly even the MSD 6 digital ignition when I do my upgrades and I have literature from MSD that shows how to do this, so you can even take it a step further with your ignition, but the way it sounds you are sitting good.

I have the Petronix II as well, added the MSD6Al and Blaster 2 coil this summer. They work great together as a pkge. If the P II gives out I will likely go with the MDS Pro Biller Distributor. Btw, I have a set of points in my storage container as well.
