Hi guys .... Got a '68 big block, 4spd... motor and drive train r fresh. the car is not original and has sum mods. but still has stock ignition. Question is..... what upgrade to the ignition, if any, have you tried or recommend and what did it entail? Also, am going to an altenator with internal reg. what did that require ? Was also going to replace engine wiring harness at same time. Lectric Limited, or someone else better? Please guys , I need your info.! Thanks !

The original points type ignition will make as much power as any aftermarket system, up to 500 HP or more. But electronic units will usually give you better starting and better idle quality. We carry a GM HEI distributor with tach drive.
There are diagrams available on the web that show the simple modification to your wiring for an internal alternator. It basically involves removing several wires, and doubling one back on itself.
Almost every wiring harness you can buy from catalogs is made by Lectric Limited. They are correct and fit.

i kept the original distribitor but upgraded it with a Pertronix module to eliminate the points. also added the Pertronix II coil. you will need to eliminate the ballast resistor, and runyour constant 12volt wire from the fuse box to the coil. great upgrade for me .no problems and i`m running High performance. good luck with the build.
thanks guys ...... i'll start there
