I'm the third owner of an 81 and figure it is about time to change the plugs and wires just so I don't have to come dirving home with an embarrising miss one day.  The car is running good but I don't know when the wires were last changed and I was wondering if you guys had some advice on good/great wires to buy.  On my Vette price is not the object.....Thanks!

The first question is do you want original look or high performance?

If you have a stock ignition system in your car, then all you need is original equipment quality wires...going beyond that will yield no better results in performance.  Other than that, it all depends on whether you want a particular color wire for appearances sake.  The same goes for spark plugs if you plan on changing them along with the wires...oe is what you need for a stock system.

We sell original Delco wires.  They look right and fit right, and are good enough for anything except a very high voltage ignition system.

I agree.  You do not need to spend a lot of bucks on the ole girl to make her run right.  Keeping up with the PM is the key !!!!

This is a very good reasonably priced  ($56.75) set of plug wires. Have them on my 74. Fit is very good also. These are for HEI, if you have something else Summit most likely has it.

I have a new set of Taylor wires; 8mm Spiro Pro Series High Performance Wire Set; #74205 in box.  Red.  I'm changing over my ignition to HEI so I can't use them.  If interested, $25.00 plus shipping.

I prefer MSD wires. They advertise 50 ohms per foot, and they are that or less. I know because I measured them before installing them. I've used them in my '72 Vette, '91 ZR1, '92 Blazer and '88 Four Winns boat. For those of you who don't know what an "ohm" is, it's the measure of resistance to the voltage. Electricity, like water, seeks the path of least resistance. And the lesser the resistance, the quicker and stronger the signal. I don't work for or sell this product, it's just my opinion on a product I like. As for OE, they will work very good as they have in the past. It just depends on what you're looking for.
