On friday morning I went out to go to work and right away I noticed a misfire. It never did this before but thought it might go away as it warmed up. Well it didn't instead it got worst. At first I thought cracked distributor cap that wasn,t it so I pulled the plugs and oh my god totally fouled with hard crusty stuff. I've seen this before on old plugs and know it's mostly from fuel additives. But the plugs only have 8000mi on them and I've never seen them encrested like this before. I have a 50'000volt coil MSD wires and had Bosh Platnum 4 plugs and a high performce control moduluer. any ideas?

have you had any smoke ?
plugs can get like this if you burn oil..
also... you need to try the steam cleaning procedure that was detailed in a thread a while back..

to try getting rid of some of the carbon buildup in your engine.

The Bosch plugs have a different internal resistance than other plugs. Acutally each plug mfg varies. The Bosch is designed for high resistance in the secondary ignition system. Without it, the plugs car burn too cold and cause deposits. Don't confuse this with heat range. Two different things.

does your state mandate a summer blend for gasoline..
this could be it
After doing some more research you were right on about the plugs. Bosh dont even list the platnum 4's for older cars but they can be crossed referenced to find one that will fit. We also have 10% ethanal in our gas in South Dakota{supossed to be cheaper ...HUH,YEA RIGHT!}It works in the newer cars ok but not so well in older ones. thanks for all the input got some Autolite platinum plugs and there $4.00 less too.

isnt that the fuel additive that consumes more energy and produces more pollution to make it than it saves by adding it to gas..
a hair brained farm subsidy wrapped up as a a$$ backwards environmental policy..
the things our government does never cease to amaze me
