Well it looks like we (Jim G and I) are gonna make his engine swap as soon as he gets it. I never did a vette but have done other trucks and cars.
If we have the room... will prpbably pull tranny together.
Any pitfalls with the Vette we should know or is it pretty straight forward like any other pull?Lifetime Member #86

Hey Ray, only challenge I can think of that we haven't talked about is the AC Compressor (charged). I guess we can drop it down out of the way.
I also suppose if we are gonna pull the tranny , I might as well replace those mounts since I already have the new Motor Mounts.
I got my intake manifold, water pump, and a Brand spanking new Demon Carb, ready so far...it all got delivered today ! No motor yet...

Are you going to change the tranny? I just changed the engine so left the tranny where it was at. Mine went well, in fact I didn't even pull the radiator. It's just like any other engine pull. Goood luck

You can leave the A/C compressor connected, just tie it over to the side, out of the way.

one advantage to leaving the tranny is... it is a straight lift.... Jim you are leaving the old tranny right? The A/C is no problem.. it will move enough

Ray,
The only thing different about a Vette is that you'll most likely have to pull one of the front wheels & do it from the side. Most engine hoists aren't long enough to clear a C-3's nose.
We took the engine out w/o the tranny, but we were able to put both in together.
Good luck,
Anthony

I guess all the brackets like PS/Alt/ and A/C will mount back on the Z same as the old one? Don't want to get started and find we need to order something... nice to have everything ready for the swap... wanna get him back on the road now the weather is getting nice...

Are you changing the exhaust headers? Does the ZZ4 have alumunim heads? I could not use the AC bracket on mine.. Zoop has almost any brackets you will need.. Mine was a 1976 with the A6 compressor..Had to change compressor..Good luck..Terry

I've already got headers on my L48...I hope the block has similar bolt holes so I can re-use my brackets.
Zoop?
