With my interpretation of Joel's method on my 74, and with a data plate of E04, I believe the build date of mine is December 4, 1973. I figured with August as A, then E would be December. Hope I'm right. If not, I'm sure Joel will correct me.

'71...K25 = June 25, '71
'74...E04 = Dec. 4, '73
All years SHARK Corvette production began in August, EXCEPT...
1970...A = January '70
'75...A = Oct. '74
'78...A = Sept. '77
'80...A = Oct. '79
'81 BG cars...B0 = May '81 thru B10 = Oct. '81
'82...C10 = Oct. '81 thru C12 = Dec. '81, then C01 = Jan. '82 thru to C10( = Oct '82) again. The VIN # will determine if the C10 car is an '81 build, or '82 build.

If my 69 is c18, would that be Oct 68 or 69? Seems it could go one way or the other.
Ken, I would think that C18 would be Oct.18,1968 as C would be Oct of 68. Using the methods Joel mentioned, that would put O18 (I think) as Oct.69. Another thing you could do is compare your VIN to the VIN numbers used for 69's. There were 38,762 vettes produced and the numbers go from 194379S700001 through 194379S738762. If the last 5 digits are a low number, it was 1968. The B0 - B10 and C10 - C12 was used only in 1981. Then on the 82's they used the C10 - C12 - C1- C10.

I think you are right. I'm 16708, so that would be in the first half anyway.
Thanks

C18 = Oct '68...
"O" would be Oct '69.
Remember that '69 was a LONG year for Corvette production(Aug. '68-Dec. '69)...this also made '70 a short year.(Jan. '70-July '70)

Thanks Joel, I remember they also had a big strike in 69. Is that where that coke bottle came from that was in the frame?? I'm kidding, but I do know of someone that had a rattle that drove him crazy, it was a bottle inside the frame.

Thanks, Joel. I knew it was late in the year because of the high VIN (near the end of production). Appreciate your time!
