Does anyone know the production date for a 1968 Corvette with a date code of C08. I'm new to the registry and loving it. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Shark Tank!!

This would be the "approximate" build date. It is when the tag is affixed to the body. At that time, the body is painted, but it wouldn't have anything else in/on it. It may have been finished that day, it may not have been finished for several days, depending on holidays, weekends, and the time of day the tag was put on.
The VIN would help narrow it down, as the records for the final VIN of the day are available.
Hope this helps! Adams' Apple2007-10-11 19:41:54

Trouble in Paradise.  October 8, 1967 was a Sunday.

They may have worked on Saturdays (my '68 has a Saturday time build date), but not likely on Sundays.

Post your consecutive unit number and we'll figure it out.

Hi - is it possible to find some official documentation on a production date? For ex. from factory?

I just brought home a very nice Vette from USA - NICE car... Big%20smile
My problem is that in Denmark itīs important to have the date of first registration, when I want to have Danish plates on the car. Cry
If not possible, I will try with the built date if thatīs possible??

Hope you can help..

All best from Kurt...

Only if original documentation came with the car when you purchased it or can be provided by previous owners. There are no recrods available from GM on the older cars 68-78. Copies of dealer invoices can be obtained from Allied-Vaughn for some of the 79-80 models.

The National Corvette Museum can provide a copy of the build sheet for most of the cars built in Bowling Green.

All C3s have a trim tag coded with the date the trim tag was attached to the body on the assembly line. The tag is on the driver's hinge post.

K07 in the upper right hand corner is the time/build date on this 1969 tag indicating July 7th. The car would not have been completed on that date and usually would have required another day to day and a half to have been finished. Since this car was on the production line on July 7, 1969, it could not have been finished, shipped, and sold to its first owner until after that date. The same would apply to your car. It could not have been titled and registered for the first time until after the time/build date.
