Thumbs Down  O.K. I know this has been addressed before, but can't find it.  I need a good reptutable company/person to re-build a progressible getting worse Q-Jet  on my 72. I tried Lars on the site, but kept getting a mailer demon.  PLEASE Help!  THANKS!  Spring Carlisle is coming up, should I seek someone out at that show?

Try K & K Automotive near me in Frederick, MD.  I've used them for over thirty years for carburetors, alternators, starters, power window motors, etc.  They do excellent work.

There also is a place out of CA that I have used numerous times before called Carburetor Exchange. You can buy one from them or send yours to them for rebuild. I have had great results with these guys. If you have all of your numbers (base plate, body or tag) you can narrow down your search right on their website - http://www.carb-x.com - for your specific application. Or if you want to keep all of your original parts that came on your car with your car, then you can have them rebuild it for you. At least check out the website - nothing to lose.

Almost forgot - if you do check out the site, and get to the section where it lists the different years and carbs, click on the "product details" box to the right of any of the carb descriptions (if you have your carb's info, this is where it comes in handy). It tells you what they do to them and all the new parts that they use in the rebuild. Also have a lifetime warranty.

Mark,
I had Cliff's High Performance out in OH do both of mine last year. Nobody around here could get the pace car to run right. Both cars run absolutely perfect now. They set them up for the E-10 crap gas too. Long backlog but once they gave me the go ahead to sent them in it didn't take long.

I had http://www.smicarburetor.com "Sean Murphy Induction" do up a Q-Jet for me years ago. I was very happy with their work.

Or you can give this guy a call http://www.thequadshop.net. He was at the NCM one year for a get together one year. He seemed pretty knowledgable.

Good luck. It's too bad you couldn't get a hold of Lar's. That guy knows his stuff.

Anyone have a different link to Lars, than the one on this site.  THANKS!   I have contacted a couple re-builders, no one has responded yet.

Two ideas
1.  There is a person in Rockford Ill that has a reputation for rebuilding cabs, I cannot think of his name.
2.  My Corvette Mechanic can do it.  He is in Wisconsin!!

LOL

Had mine done by Corvette Paramedics in NJ.  They did a great job.
