Thats what I thought.I guess I'll have to go down to the shop that does all my work that I don't want to do and use their lift.Thanks.I see that you have a chrome bumper car, just wondering if it's any diff. on my 82.Any suggestions on a plug that lasts a long time so I don't have to do this for a while?

I ALWAYS USE AC DELCO PLUGS....I HAVE REMOVED THE SMOG TUBES ( DID I SAY THAT?). WITHOUT THOSE IN THE WAY, THE PLUGS ARE ACCESSIBLE FROM THE TOP. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, I HAVE HEARD STORIES OF THEM SNAPPING OFF IN THE MANIFOLD.

With my tubular headers from Quicksilver they are a mess to replace... It go's from above BUT you need 12 fingers for 4 and 2 fingers at 1 hand for the other 4.... DON't cut the 3 , because there will be much longer spark plugs as fingers on your hand...

Normaly i need 10 for 8 new.... the other 2 end on the floor or in the key with a broken isolator.Always check them in the dark with engine running : broken plugs give a flashing light : you see the sparks outside ! no kidding !

Every year I do my tune up and replace the spark plugs.    They do last longer but I do this every year.

You can change out the first six with some good tools from the top and the last two at the back by the fire wall will be harder to get to but much easier from the bottom.    I have no troubles when I start doing this alot.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I use the Bosh Platinum+4. They seem to burn that vegetable oil better without your exhaust smelling like french fries.
