Vette(s): 1980 L-82 With Custom Hood, Tail, Tail lights, and Rims
I recently was given my fathers '80 as a gift. He owned the car for about twelve years and when he purchased it from the previous owner it had L-82 badges on the sides(which are still there). I ran the VIN number on this site and it came back as a L-48. At first I figured the badges were changed, however in driving it, it does feel like it has more than 190 ponies. Also, while on this site I read in one of these forums that the L-82 motors had different valve covers, which were black, and this motor has corvette logo black valve covers. Just tryin to figure out if the previous owner did a motor swap and put an L-82 in her or just re-badged her and beefed up the motor a bit..... tommy

if you are looking at the motor on the pass. side they are right in front of the head on a pad ,ginda hard to see sometimes, but a little sandpaper will help that, then your done unless u have to move something to even get to see them lol like the ac .well good luck brother !!

Vette(s): 1973 Orange Metallic Coupe (orig owner), L82, 4 spd (WR), PS, (A/C & PW (I installed from wrecked 73)), leather, AM/FM Stereo, ran with '65 FI unit earlier & will again some day.

Not sure about '80 L-82s but in '73, they came with the 8" harmonic balancer and the base engine came with the thin 6" one.
