Does the oil pump have a gasket where it bolts onto the engine?  I didn't get one in my oil pan gasket kit.  I just replaced my rear main seal.

Thanks.  Makes sense, plus the O'Reilly parts guy said there was no gasket in the oil pump box.  It appears I have a Melling oil pump in my LT-1.  I wonder what it's history is.  Melling pump, tack welded pump pickup tube, balanced crankshaft.....

IF you do use sealer or a gasket, it is more likely to leak, not less.  You also run the risk of getting the gasket stuff into the pump and causing problems.
