Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.

Great article!  More of these would make doing these rebuilds so much easier.  The pictures add so much information that is really unnecessary to put into words.  Of course a hydraulic press would be essential.  Then there's that pesky free afternoon.  Oh, and the blasting cabinet and blaster.

Of course none of that even comes close to the actual "fear" of attempting such a project and screwing it up royally!

Is there any way to post this into that Projects section without copyright infringements?  Might save one of the members having to do it later.

Thanks Again

That's cool, but I did mine differently. I bought a reman pump from Pep-Boys, and swapped the new stuff out of it into my factory installed("numbers matching") casting. Pump was $20 !!! Been on my '74 now for about 3 years, with no problems. And, yes, a press makes it much easier!

Vette(s): 1960 (got wiped out in the Rapid City flood of 72), 1968 roadster(sold it so I could buy the 71), 1971 Coupe Chromed almost everything underneath. Had it since "76"
I have a water pump off a my vette. I bought it new from the "General" way back in the 70's. Nothing wrong with it, I put a chrome one on my car. But can you tell me what year it's for? the numbers on the casting are on the Pass. side 830-818 S. On the Drivers side the casting numbers are H214 GM 4.

If it's not painted, Chrome it!!!
