I'm getting ready to drop a ZZ-4 or ZZ-383 into the Money Pit and I was wondering if anyone here had gone with a throttle body set up vs the carbed setup.
Does it fit under the stock hood? Are there advantages vs the cost? Is this a good or a bad idea?
What am I missing?

Well, a throttle bodied engine will be computer controlled, so you'll have that to deal with.
I think most aftermarket tbs are a little bit shorter than a carb, but, I could be wrong.
You should get better fuel milage, and engine effeciency(?!) with the tb set-up.

I've been in a dilemma about puttin' a crate in and store the original or just have the original rebuilt when it comes time for that.

I've been told that it's worth the guarantee to have a crate put in. Rebuilding a 30 y/o block is a crap shoot..not my words...
Maybe someone else has an opinion...?

Hmmn... I suppose the same could be said about putting a new motor in a 30 Y/O car too. I would disagree providing the block was still good.

I think age of the engine has little to with it.. I would be more concerned about the mileage on the engine, determining what steps to take in rebuilding/building up... then of course labor could be the deciding factor if you have to pay someone to do it at todays rate$...
