hey guys, my dad and I were looking at some roller rockers. We were going to get me off ebay. but where not sure of the ratio, or even the nut size. FOr a 350CID on a '77 which size, and ratio would be the best. ANd would crane cams, or comp cams be the best?

I was thinking either:

http://www.powerandperformancenews.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CC&Category_Code=pmRCKR

or

http://www.cranecams.com/?show=browseParts&lvl=4&prt=108&action=partSpec&partNumber=11766L-1

or please look at:

http://motors.search.ebay.com/roller-rockers_W0QQfromZR8QQsamotorscategorymapZ6000QQsas_partneridZ2QQsorecordstoskipZ100QQsosortorderZ1QQsosortpropertyZ1

And tell me what ones to buy, I don't want to spend a lot of $$$ on these...
But liek I said I don't know the corect ratio, or size. I think it is 1.50, 7/16
Thanks guys...

First: you have to measure the diameter of your rocker arm studs. They are either 7/16" or 3/8."
Second: figure out what max lift is on the cam your going to use.
Third: figure out what your valve springs will handle for max lift without coil bind.
1.5 ratio is pretty much the norm. 1.6 will increase the lift of the cam slightly for a little better breathing.

Remember to inspect them thoughly for defects before installing. Once you install them, you own them.

well, if I am reading "cthulhu"'s simulated dyno right that cam should let me go up to 1.7:1 ratio on the rockers. However I put a 7/16 socket on the nut and it returned that the socket was too small. I have yet to find a socket that is 3/8 but I want these miller rockers and they are liek $188.00 buy it now and htey are avaliable in 1.5:1-7/16&3/38
1.6:1-7/16&3/38

um.. I am totally confused.

A 3/8" socket, and a7/16" socket were too small, so I decided out of nowhere to try a 5/8" and BAM! it works. I know the engine plae that rebuilt the engine replaced the arms, but why 5/8? Am I going to need new set of studs?

The studs themselves are either 3/8 or 7/16 in diameter not the nuts. My guess is that they used 3/8" studs. dont go by my guess though, you make sure of that. You have any vernier calipers or a 0-1" micrometer? If not try the best to decide what it is with a ruler.

ok....

here is the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33624&item=7939013291&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

It ends in 3 hours, I hope someone responds by then... (Please) I tlaked to my dad's friend Tom. This is the guy who told me to get rockers. I showed him tese, and he said wow. THose are normally like $350 ROCKERS! I looked it up, and sure enough they are. ANd they seem to have really kick @$$ reviews. I really like these.... They can have them shipped to you in a 7/16, or 3/8 size. I think I'm going to get te 7/16", 1.5:1 set of 16. If they don't fit..... then why cna't I jsut get a new 7/16" stud kit from summitracing?
listed here: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=ARP%2D134%2D7101&N=100&Ntk=PartSearch&Ntt=ARP%2D134%2D7101 ?
Thanks

I wouldnt go more than 1.6 with your cam..

if I left my 1.7 BB rockers in that dyno that i made a mistake.. since our cams are so similar I just modified mine.

I adjusted the max lift so the results are accurate..

IN GENERAL..

the nut and therefore socket used to remove them is 3/16 greater than the bolt..

7/16 studs generally use a 5/8" wrench to remove the nut

3/8 studs would be 9/16"

calipers would be best..

but if you dont have one.. take one of your intake manifold bolts.. they are 3/8" so are your exhaust manifold bolts. use this to compare..

im betting you have 7/16th's studs.. btw are you sure they are screw in studs and not press in? do you have guideplates ??

and as for lift with your cam.. you could go with the 1.6 and get a little more lift as sarge suggested

your cam lift is only .302 with 1.5 ratio rockers this gives .454 max lift.. if you went with 1.6 youd have .484 max lift..

this .030 would help performance a bit..

less than 5hp/5lbs torque.. desktop dyno says 3hp and 2lbs torque at PEAK

and on stock heads this clearance wont be a problem..
