Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
If 100 km is close to 6o mph, it is right. My vette runs about 1000 for every 20mph 3000Rpms= approx 60mph. Doggone thing runs away with itself. I have thought about getting a bowtie trans 700R4 overdrive for it. but as usual, that wouldn't be original!!!

I'd have to say that sounds about right too. My speedometer doesn't work all the time so I usually have to go off what my tach says. I like cruising at 3000 rpms, sounds great!!

I normally cruise at about 70 mph. I have a 308 rear and the tach reads 2900. As the gears go up in number 308, 355, 370, etc so will the rpms at a given speed. There is a calculator out on the internet that gives different speeds, rpms, gear ratios and tire sizes. All 4 of these things will effect eachother. I don't have the URl here at home. Tomorrow at work if I can manage to remember, I will post it on this thread. It is a lot of fun to play with.

Well, bad news. I looked for the URL that I mentioned in my previous post and the site appears to have folded. The URL was http://vette.ida.net/techno.htm but it is no longer available. It was a pretty cool site and I will miss it.

Thanks for the correct URL info. I did find it but forgot where this thread was. Please check the general discussion post and look under rear axel ratios for two more sites that do similar tech info.
thanks again !
