Topic: Scrapping noice

Thanks so much for replying but I am sure it is not that. It seems to be coming from underneath the car but you know how car noises are, you think they are coming from someplace and it ends up being somewhere else. I saw some stuff on the interent that it could be the universal joints which I am going to check out this weekend along with a couple of other possibilities.

Something I forgot to mention before, but I've seem many times...check the harmonic balancer on the engine. If the rubber ring(elastomer, actually) between the outer ring and the center of the hub is deteriorated, it can allow the outer ring to spin out of position, and scrape/rub on the timing cover. Sometimes they will also vibrate, since the balancer is out of whack, but not always. Just a thought....
