I was wondering if the St Louis plant worked on weekends during any model year. I know the Bowling Green plant did on occasion when the demand for the Corvette was so great. Is anybody in the position to know this information conclusively?

Yes they did. While I researched my 1975 build date I happened to speak with a guy at the Bowling Green Assembly plant that worked in St. Louis. During the 1975 model production year I was told that the Line rate was 10 cars per hour, 2 - 9 hour shifts and overtime was two Saturdays a month.

The Body Tag on my car was I28 or June 28th and that was a Saturday. The tag did not go on the body until it came out of the paint shop. There are several sources to get the serial number breaks for each month of production and I was able to calculate that the car probably came off of the line or was released to the shipper on Monday June 30th.
Since there was Memorial Day and the plant was closed for the holiday on June 2 I would imagine that there was 3 Saturdays of overtime during the month of June.
