Well, I was lucky finding this problem.   After getting stranded in the vette, I had it taken to my local 'hot rod' shop.  While the mechanic was searching for the problem the engine stalled.  He actually saw the constricted fuel line.   After removing the old line he gave me a new line to squeeze and compare.  The old line felt quite weaker.   I'd say go ahead and replace the old lines...   It's inexpensive and may solve your problem.

what might be your problem is that the Performer intake # 2101 has Q-jet carb  spread bore mounting flange, the Holley Avenger  has a square mounting flange, to run the avenger on the #2101 manifold you have to get Edelbrock #2696 adopter which lifts the carb about 1/2" or use # 9265 or 9266 heat insulator  gasket, the difference between the 65 and 66 is one has a divider and the other is open, either one will work, I used the heat gasket on my Edel 2101  because I didn't like the the adapter set up which uses two gaskets and a alumn spacer and longer studs, the heat insulator uses a 3/8" gasket and longer studs, so before doing surgery on you carb, make sure your carb is mounted correctly, your mech should have picked  up the difference in the mounting.

Well when I brought it to my mechanic in the beginning, that was his theory and he said that he could not fit an adapter under my hood and that I had no choice but to change the carb. So I changed the carb and the intake gasket and set the timing and changed the plugs, and put a vacuum gauge on her, and disconnected all vacuum to the manifold and still ahd same problem...verified tranny to make sure nothing is disconnected....the only thing I can think of now is the Torque converter being difective or unable to deal with the cam (Comp 270H magnum hydraulic)
Also, I changed the plugs last night and she is running really rough now with new AC Delco plugs...I didnt gap them however and am wondering if not gaping them could cause rough running? I thought they came all ready gapped today....what do you guys think?

Hey shorkey,
Just food for thought,
Are your plug wires OK?
Just wondering if heat buildup from running the motor could cause the stalling problem to get worse as temps get gotter under the hood.
Keep pluggin' away and let us know how it goes.

plugs from the factory come are close but you should always check and regap the plugs, they come somewhere around 35" gap, if you have a HEI distrubutor I think they should be gaped somewhere around 45", Ive seen plugs come out of the box with the ground smached down on the electroad, to check hood clearance take Silly Puddy or polishing clay bar and ball a piece about a 1"x1" or more  and place it in the center of your bolted down air cleaner and slowely close the hood, open the hood and measure the thickness of the puddy, so what are your carb-manifold combination now, ck to make sure you didn't cross your wires anips2009-05-22 10:08:09
