Hey guys... I have not beeon on the forums in a little while. I have been relaly busy with school, and work. I have not even touched the Vette. But the beauty of this all is that by next paycheck (tmorrow) I cna buy the carb, intake manifold, chevy chrome logo bolts, Y shapped wing nut valve cover fastener kit, ait cleaner. THe next major thing is the headers. I picked out a new MARCH light weight chrome pulley. The damper I am getting fromt he same place that built my engine. THe fans I'm dropping is is dual 11" electric fans. However my real big question is I want to add ona supercharger. I ahve heard nothign but good reviews, and opinions on the "B&M 142 supercharger" Problem is I dont know where to get it, nor do i know how much it is. However eveyone seems to add it on to the same type of engine as mine, a chevy 350CID bored .30over and geting nothing but great results. What is everyone's opinion, and where can I pick this baby up?

Vette(s): 69 Conv #'s match 427, TKO-600/.64, 3.36HD-Posi, HT, T/T, PS, PB, PW, SP, Leather, Comp XE264HR & Roller Rockers & Lifters, Air-Gap RPM intake, Holley St Av 770 VS, MSD 6AL+Dist+Blaster SS, K&N, Jet-Hot Hooker Side-Pipes, Steeroids, Al Rad, Spal Fans
that would change your peak torque at the flywheel to about 455 @ 3000 rpm and HP to 375 @ 5000

Do you suggest doing it? (I'd only use it at the track, or a day of closed road fun with my dad) I went to B&M's website and foud no supercharger. I went to summit racing and found a Weiand 142 Pro Street Supercharger http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=WND%2D6508%2D1&N=110&Ntk=KeywordSearch&Ntt=Weiand+142+. This is made by Holley. My carb, and intake are edlebrock. And they ahve just been purchased. SO would you see any complications? If I did get this: do need to get a new replacment Weiand pulley form this list

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
History: Holley bought the B&M Superchargers about 4 years ago. They are still available, but as Weiand with Teflon. There are also the Weiand Superchargers that are Metal to Metal.

Your plans:
If I'm understanding your plans you are wanting to run an intake and carb for street and swap on the supercharger for track use. |headscratch|

I would do one or the other and leave it at that. You will have no problem running a supercharger full time on the street, especially the 142. Swapping them back and forth is bound to lead to a disaster somewhere along the way.

If you decide to run a 142 or any supercharger the most compression you want your engine to have is 8.5:1. So if you can live with a 8.5:1 carbed engine for everyday use then you can swap back and forth, but in my opinion that would be a lot of work.

hear are the reason:
Different throttle linkage set up for both systems.
Differnt Trans linkage for both set ups.
Different Fuel line setups for both systems.
Different type of carburetor for each system.
Different Vacuum line set up for both systems.
Different timng and ignition setup for both systems.
Different pulley system and alignment
Different water pump setup and alignment

Just to name a few, and lastly, if your going to spend the money for a hood to clear the supercharger then you might as well get the most out of it and leave the supercharger on.

Hrm.... I guess I never really looked at it that way. I didn't really want to change everytime for it, but I figured it would be cool for the track on friday's when I went (every once in a while) but its not worth it then if the setups are completly different. But can I use a turbo to help? If so what one? I'm confused.....

Right now I would just keep it simple. Sounds like your on a tight budget anyways. Yea your compression is way too high to stuff any more air into the cylinders with out detonation. That is if you are using premium gas. You can use the supercharger but you will need to use the 100 octane gas that cost over 3.00 a gallon. You basically would need to start over with your engine if you wanted to use the blower. Unless you want to experiment with water/methanol injection. Turbos are in the same boat as the blower but way more complicated and expensive. Think of the K.I.S.S. (Keep.It.Simple.Stupid.)principal right now. then later on when you got the dough and experiance to bump up the performance a notch you will know what your doing.

You got forged pistons in there? Nitrous, definitly sounds like a better idea for track fun. Its cheap and not hard to setup. Just make sure you got the ability to add extra fuel while you shoot the nitrous.(carb and fuel pump.) Also with your motor you might not want to higher then a 100hp shot. But 100 hp is a great kick in the Butt and can get you to touch low 13's or high 12's.

Ya... I was thinking at work that this whole thing would make for nothing other than a waste of time. I just ordered $704 worth of parts from summit. I think NOS is (pardon my french) pussy. I hate NOS its artificial in a way. As where as aturbo, or a super charger is not, it just adds more of what the car already needs, a car does not need NOS.
