I took a couple of things to the shop that's building my engine today and was really surprised to see my original engine without the oil pan on and it was a TWO BOLT!
Was this a normal thing after '70 when they dropped the compression? There was also a lot of pieces of something nylon in the bottom of the pan. What could that have been from? Now, for a third question...... Anyone familiar with 'Bullet Racing Cams'? That's what's going in my engine.

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

A 270 hp L48 would have been a two bolt.

I told ya the timing chain was probably bad...that's the nylon crap in da pan. The teeth of the timing chain have a nylon covering on them. it was supposed to make it quieter.
I've heard of Bullet Cams, but don't know anything aboot them...
I know the engine in your car is the original..the LT1(330hp) and the base(270hp) engines used the same casting numbers, but the LT1s were four bolts. The only way to know if the block is 2 or 4 bolt main is to pull the pan, or by the engine suffix number on the pad. Even then, you never really know...
Check out BULLET CAMS here... I don't see anything there with those specs, tho...Adams' Apple 2006-11-30 20:05:06

dur @.050 230 | adv. dur 284 | lift .480 | lobe centerline 108 | Hyd Strong mid range power,street conv. recommended.
This looks otay...once ya gits the headers on it, it oughtta werk purdy well. I don't know how well it's gonna werk with 9, 9 1/5 compression, but it should be otay. It looks like it is about as big as you should go with that comp. ratio.
