I put a down payment on a 383 that is currently in a 1976 Chevelle. The Chevelle has automatic transmission. My 1975 has a BW S T-10Couple of questions; the engine has a long water pump, my engine has a short one, will long on fit?
I need to get a flywheel as this is an externally balanced engine. Will my starter from old engine work?
What other things do I need to plan for. The engine comes in two weeks.

The water pump will not work in your car...you'll need to swap them, or get a new, short pump. The pulleys will not line up...short answer.
The flywheel will need to be balanced for the engine, and you'll also need to install a pilot bushing, or bearing, into the crankshaft for the trans. Depending on what size flywheel you get, the starter should be fine. Just make sure the flywheel you get is the same diameter, and has the same tooth-count as yours.
Everything else should bolt right up with no problems, unless the heads do NOT have threaded holes for mounting the A/C compressor, alt adjusting bracket, etc.

The old motor is out now. I'm starting to organize and get the C3 parts on the new motor.
The dip stick is a right hand one. I plan to use the ignition wire sheilds, but have found out that I will need to modify the sheilds abit to package the dipstick.
