Anyone tried the new 'Thumpr' line of cams from Comp? I'm getting the impression from reading around that they may be more 'show and no go'.  I'm putting a new engine together, again,  Angry and trying to decide what to go with this time. I think I'm chuckin' the Procomp Alum. heads with the 210 runners and 2.02 int valves and either buying something better or using a good pair of GM 487 heads I have and maybe working them over a bit....I dunnoConfused

This is one reason I need to get a good cam... My son sent me this video last night of his '02 Firebird LS1 he just dropped a new cam in.  Catch the comment at the end of the video? Smart a** LOL  http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c244/justinusaf18/?action=view&current=100_0629.flv

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

I haven't heard about the Thumpr cams, but I do understand Lunati's Voodoo cams are great.  It does come down to what you want out of your engine and assembling the correct mix of parts to accomplish that.  Let that decide what spec cam accomplishes that for you...regardless of brand.

I was within a hair of purchasing the Mother Thumpr for my car and lucked out at the last minute with a family friend who managed to get me a custom ground roller cam from CompCams  for the same price (he's a CC dealer).

Like Gunslinger, I have heard some good things on the VooDoo cams. But, I have been running CCs for years without issues. Their street and strip grinds are great.

Again, depends on what you want the car to do...Big smile

I have a combo of Crane cam and Edelbrock rpm heads, I have good horsepower and awssome torque at low and mid range, the "thump" is there as well. You can pretty well design your power anyway you want it.. good luck,,rd
