My car was built w/a 400 tripower set up.At some point in time,prev.owner put on a 71 4bbl set up."like most people did"
I have a correct set of carbs but a 435 intake,not a 400(I know they're ports are different)does anyone have any thoughts on this working.I've had other people indicate that it will fit,but will have an offset at the block..
Also looking for a source of pictures of what my engine should have looked like off the assem.line. So I know what to make it look like when I rebuild everything under the hood.

While the square port intakes will physically bolt on to an oval port head, they don't work very well that way. Nor do they work well the other way. You need to have heads/intake ports that match properly if you want it to actually run...correctly.

I don't have it, but there is a book by M.F. Dobbins that is supposed to be very good on showing what cars looked like, and the details. It is the "Fact Book", and there are different books for the different 'Vette generations. Check with some of the Supporting Vendors(Bair's, Mid-Am, etc.) here to see if they have it available.

Like Joel said...the intake will bolt on but not work well at all. Oval port heads were actually better for a street car. The square port heads work best at high rpm's...not where a street car lives. Believe me...I have a 427/435 car and while I love the car and it puts out plenty of low end torque, the engine doesn't even hit its power band until 4400 rpm's through to 7000. I don't even drive it that fast. That's partially due to the cam and partly the head design.

You should be able to sell that 435 intake for some good bucks.
