Yesterday, after putting new motor in my 77,I broke what must have been a very frail aluminum vacuum fitting. This is the one behind carb and is a three way type. One goes to modulater, the other two I will investigate later on. This fitting can't be removed without first removing carb. Can I use any other type that has a three way? Can I use a small brass 90 degree fitting and turn away from carb, then rise upward? In other words can I re engineer a fitting to get away from the Q jet just a little? I see no other vacuum tappings in this after market intake.

You can certainly "re-engineer" a fitting setup. As long as you have a spot to hook up all of the vacuum lines that it had originally, you can put in whatever will work for you.
The "other two" lines will be, one for the headlight system(vacuum reservoir), and then the other should travel inside to operate the HVAC system, and branch off to the headlight switch and over-ride.

I had to rework my vacuum set up when I put my new Edelbrock manifold on,the hole in the manifold was to close to the back of the carb base for a straight shot, had to elbow it back then up

Thank you! Both answers were what I needed to hear. BTW, 2 years ago I prematurely bought a set of "chinese headers" out of Cal. through a store on EBAY. I found out yesterday they bolted up just great and the stainless tubing and flange hadn't changed in any way. They don't say Hooker, etc. but they fit nicely and still look good.

hey while we are on this subject.. let me remind everyone that the best way to solve your engine vaccum problems (if youre not an NCRS guy) is to hook up an electric vac pump. you can hook them up with a T and 1 way valves so they cant cross up. that way.. if either one is providing sufficient vaccum you are fine. your headlights and wiper door dont open when your foot is on the floor. You can have a monster cam and still drive your corvette with vac accessories. I spent around 75$ on a 23 psi 12VDC vac pump. Very well worth it. it shuts off when it reaches 23 and starts when it falls to 15...
