Ok, my friend and I are having a quarrel. Here’s what is being done to my engine, and tranny:

1977 L48 Block Corvette
Resurfaced crank
New RV1 cam
New stage one pistons
Resurfaced heads
L48 engine block bored .30 over
Edelbrock 600 CFM Carb #4106
Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake
Edelbrock Pro Air Cleaner
Stock headers
American thunder exhaust/delta 80 mufflers
Original 3SPD turbo 350 hydraulic tranny rebuilt w/ stage one shift kit.

Do you guys think I could run in the 11's on a quarter mile? And do you think the rear end would bottom out in the quarter mile with this much more torque?

Thanks,
-Louis
P.S. He drives an SRT-4 ;)

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
Nope, 14's at Best. For our cars to run high 11's you need to be making 500 to 550 Hp at the wheels and be running 3.73 gears and a 2500 stall to get you off the line.

After all your talking about a 3200lb car. Look at the 68 427's Most of them barely run 11's.

Stage one pistons. What compression ratio? That would make quite a difference. Perhaps only 15s.

If you are looking for a car to run in the 11 second range, why did you not build one to do it?
The car you have will be a 14 sec car at best, not that there is anything wrong with that. I would rather have a well built 14 sec car than one which turns 11 sec and lives in the shop.
Good Luck. |saluteflag|

Makes sense yes. And I am not looking to race. However I don't want the ricers to view my Vette as a piece of crap (which they all do b/c its an American V8). Lets face it the C3 was not the best year for the Vette. Due to the "Gas Shortage" the L48, and L82 could be way better than Chevy made them.

Who really cares what the 'Ricers' think. |devil|

Look, they all sound like mopeds on steroids with that idiotic looking exhaust hanging out the back. They weigh about as much as a pound of feathers. Does anybody stop in their tracks to look at a tricked out ricer going down the street. I guarentee you they will stop to stare at a nice C3. |thumb|

My answer to them would be..." in ten years my c3 will have appreciably gone up in value... your "rice rocket" will be a rusted out POS!!"
