Hi Louis
Do'nt worry about anyone but you.You have one up on the
ricers-Challenge them to smoke the back tires!
Be patient, you have a unique old car with lots of potential. Can they bolt in a crate 383? Go slow and fix it up.The key word here is Corvette.Enjoy!
Steve |wavey|

PS you can always give it a 500 hp hit of nitrous and it
might go 11's once!

I agree.
The Corvette is not just a car.
It is a lifestyle.
It is a culture.
It is unique.
It is an American icon.
It is admired by many and owned by a few.

And I love it! |bouncy| |bouncy| |bouncy| |saluteflag|

I am in in the future planning on doing to a lesser extent what this guy did to his 82 vette. (www. montywilliams.com) I dont know how to make it a clickable link but he has one serious sleeper. This guy lives close to me and you would never guess he had that much hp from how it sounds. The only tip off is the woosh sound it makes on decelleration. He should make low 9's if they ever let him on the track with out a cage. (lol) but the thing drives around town like it is a 350 hp fuel injected car. I have a much more scaled back version planned, aiming for around 700 hp. I dont know how many years it will be before I got the cash to build it though. Turbos are awsome! I got about 295-310rwhp now and I feel I'm in the low 13's although its never been tested. It feels faster than my friends stock 2000 Trans am. We know those are 13 second cars.

Vette(s): 1972 coupe/350 cid/mild cam/4 spd/20 ft. paint (looks perfect from 20 ft.), but it sure runs nice.

With the exception of a few really talented tuners, most of these guys are "pea brains". Wear their taunting like a badge of honor, we all know who gets the looks sitting at a red light.

Vette(s): 1973 Corvette Stingray Coupe. All origional car - #'s Matching, white with saddle interior.
I have made similar modifications to my '73. I was at the track in Bowling Green and ran a 14.8 on 93 oct. pump gas, thick air (it was a rainy day) and alll my luggage in the back. Maybe could have got down to low 14's if all was right.

If you want to get down to the 11's, the guys here are right...you'll need 500+ HP to do it. Then your talking heads, bigger carb, headers, and to completely rework the engine (crank, pistons, cam, lifters,....and on and on.)

It can be done, but u need the $$$ to get there.

As for the Ricers....believe me, they wish they were you. All you have to know is "Chicks Dig Sharks". The rest really doesn't matter does it? |smokin|

(It feels faster than my friends stock 2000 Trans am. We know those are 13 second cars.)

I sold my 2001 T/A to get the vette. Yes it was faster (for now) but it did not even compare to the vette for style and appeal. It is the same reason I don't own a new vette. It is only about money. You have the money, you get the car. These old vettes require a passion! It is not about money, it is about love of the car, the style, and what is represents.

When I drove the T/A, every punk kid in town wanted to race me at every light. With the vette, I get waves, stares, and compliments on the restore.

If you want more HP you can get it $$. If not, just Enjoy it the way it is. Don't worry about what others think.
