I'd be interested in how much engine vacuum you guys have after the cam installation.  When I get some of the other projects compleated, I plan on adding EFI, and the specks call for a certain minimum of vacuum at idle.

Thanks, Dave

I can't remember what we had on our engine, but the readings were fairly high.  Obviously it will vary from engine to engine depending on lifter type, and miles on the actual engine.

Just an FYI, there is an old drag racers trick from back in the early street racing days that will allow you to run a much larger cam and still have good or better vacuum.  They are called Rhoads Lifters.

They can be run with any brand of cam.

Just something to keep in mind when you build an engine and end up with lower vacuum then you were expecting.

rhoads lifters work huh? I've seen them in the summit catalogs but never put much consideration in them, figuring its just a sales gimmick. Would a voodoo cam and rhoads lifters be a good idea for my engine since I need to replace the lifters anyways? Aside from added vacuum, they claim up to 25% additional low end torque which I guess is linked to the added vacuum. I can put to good use all the torque I can get. LOL.Tumarr38470.636875

I forgot all about Rhoads lifters. I had them in a small block Camero I had years ago. They worked quite well, and gave the impression of solid lifters back then, I don't know if that aspect has changed. I'm still interested in the vacuum reading on a vodoo, with hyd. lifters.
