I just recieved my vortec package and noticed the heads and intake do not match the gm gasket at all!

Should I port match these - round out the outer edges towards the gasket?

Also, should I polish the combustion chamber and exhaust ports?

Thanks for suggestions! |cheers|

FYI, more often then not the gaskets are always larger then the ports in the heads and intakes. They do this because different manufacturers of intakes and heads vary their port sizes from part number to part number. Otherwise they would have to build a specific gasket for each head and intake on the market. Basically they make gaskets with the most common largest port on the market this way one gasket covers them all. This is also the reason cylinder head gaskets have a much larger bore dia. then what is actually milled into the block.

If they ports on the intake and heads match in size and only the gasket is larger I would let it go. If the intake ports are smaller then the head then you could port them out to the gasket. If the head ports are smaller then then intake ports then you should port out the heads.
