I'will change my L48 by a ZZ4(http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=NAL%2D24502609)

but keep my transmission stock:
th350
1st--> 2,52:1
2nd--> 1,52:1
3rd--> 1:1
converter max ratio--> 2:1

rear axle ratio--> 3,55:1
tires will be--> 255/60/15

Is it a good idea or my vette will be a drag ?
so my transmission will make 1st.2nd.3rd............ (every time in 3rd)?

Better check to see if the carb is going to clear under the hood that looks like a higher than stock intake manifold,otherwise looks like a good deal. How much is shipping and handling going to cost all the way to france ? |headscratch| |thumb| |wavey| Ron 78

ok so if i rebuilt my engine L48 to became a ZZ4 like:
i would take this:
-Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake Manifolds (ref summit: EDL-7101)
-Engine Kit, SBC Towing/Street, 210/216 Cam/Hyd.Lifters/64cc Cyl.Heads (ref summit:TFS-K314-350-400)
-Edelbrock carb (like Holley 4150 600cfm with electric choke)
-what for ingnition?
-which rebuid kit takes? (piston forged?, flat?,..)

You'll be ok installing a ZZ4 into a 79. You may need to use a drop base air cleaner to clear the hood though. Your gearing is just fine for ZZ4. Good to have more European guys chiming in! |thumb|

Sounds like a nice small block to me. I know there's quite few guys running SB with air gap intakes under stock hoods, so drop base air cleaner assembly will help you make it happen. |cheers|

Sounds like either way you will have more than $4000 into the project so why do a rebuild/build-up if you can get a crate motor. The L-48 has a 2-bolt main which can handle it but the zz4 has the benifit of a 4-bolt for added security and piece of mind. I would go with the crate motor if I had it to do over. |cheers|
