Hey guys, i have a torker II intake ( single plane) for the vette... but not too sure I am willing to lose my bottom end torque.....

so... what dual plane intake will fit under a STOCK hood??? seems like no aftermarket ones will as they are all high rise.....

I do not plan on running stock air cleaner and was going to use a 69-71 open style air cleaner with the drop down base....

any ideas???

Jim

I took off my Torker II and used a Performance Products Cyclone dual plane intake, going with a L-88 hood with cold air box, and l-88 air cleaner.  I have not identified any dual plane intakes ( Edelbrock, Wiend, Holley, etc)  that will fit under a stock hood, regardless of what air cleaner is used.

Good luck

Thanks for the note.....

Why did you take the torker II off???

I used to run a single plane on my Buick 231 V6 and noticed a small decline in bottom end, but gained a whole lot of top end...... guess it would be the same effect for the 454?

I took the Torker II off because there was a definite flat spot off idle, and I was changing the cam to a low to mid range torque grind.  I want the car to really respond off idle, as I just intend to it for cruising and fooling around stop light to stop light, hoping to bring back my youth.Smile

In retrospect, perhaps the flat spot was more carb issue than manifold.
I also suspect that the Torker II single plane manifold , on a larger displacement engine like the 454, might not inflict that big a penalty in low end response.

Anyway, the new manifold looks much nicer, & thats what its all about, right?LOL

Cheers

Same thing I am doing, changing the cam to a low to mid range cam, looking for more off line response...  gotta teach the little imports a thing of two... ;)
