Hello I just bought a 1979 L-82 vette and I was wondering what color the paint was on the block from the factory? It is right now orange. the numbers match but I suspect it has been rebuilt recently since it is still on the block and not rusted off. the car has 116,000 miles on it.

The color is blue I have a 1979.

Your 1979 engine was painted blue.

Since you have am L82 your valve covers should be aluminum painted black, except fot the very edge of the fin bibs.

Also your L82 has an aluminum intake which was painted withan aluminum paint.(Motor mount lifts on intake are also painted aluminum color)
