Can anyone identify this yellow gunk in one of the exhaust ports of the underside of my manifold? 2 of the ports have this in it.
All the other ports are clear! I'm wondering if this was done on purpose to block these ports for some performance reason or something. Or is is just loaded up with crap?!

This is the other four (clear) ports on the same side of the manifold as the above picture:

Please help!
Thanks!

Terry,
Yeah, I meant intake manifold.
The port on the exact opposite side has the same stuff.
So you're saying it should not be there, right?
What has it been doing to the performance of the engine?
Thanks

Chuck,
Yup, that's the rear of the manifold.
So these holes were purposly filled with gunk?
And by who, the factory?
Thanks!

Hi Adam ,,, nothing to worry about as what you see is caused by the coolant passages in the rear of the cylinder heads . These passages are blocked off by the intake manifold and what you see is just normal corrosion .

Yes you should clean out under the shield . Shear the small rivets off with a sharp chisel . The holes will then have to be tapped for small screws !! If any of this is a problem just e/mail me !!

Adam,
As far as I know, those two ports are air ports and not needed so they got filled. I have a big block rectangular port manifold that is identical to yours.
