Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.
I seem to remember from a couple years back someone posting a list of all fasteners on a Chevy small block and whether it should receive RTV, thread locker or oil.  However, I cannot find that post.  Can anyone point me to such a list?
Thanks!

Click on to this link...........it might help you.  http://www.smallparts.com/products/descriptions/al.cfm  In the past, I would contact Loctite hotline 1-800-loctite (1-800-562-8483). They would answer all of my technical questions.......VERY NICE TO DEAL WITH. Also get a Loctite catalog. It answers a lot of questions. They are handed out at Summit Racing. Good luck with your project.  corvette440hp2008-01-18 09:31:52

I use Loctite 242 on the suspension and engine. Permitex also makes a line of thread lock. I spec medium strength thread lock on the diesel engine packages I design mainly because of high vibrations. Bolts generally don't come loose if properly torqued but its cheap insurance to use a thread lock. Nothen but the best for my babyWink

I am reading up on change the cylinder heads and cam.  Often it is mentioned to use sealant on head bolts to keep water and oil from leaking.  I thought that is why you use a head gasket, but no you need to use sealant.

Can you just use thread lock instead?

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!
Just be advised, there are some places that you should NOT use sealer or thread lockers.

But for the most part, they can be a good thing.
