I have built up a replacement engine for my 72, so as to save the original one. It is a 355 with a steel crank, good rods, a comp cams xe274h, vortec heads, an edelbrock rpm performer intake with a holley 750, and headers with 2 1/2 inch exhaust. The car has a 3.36 posi rear in it with a th400. My question is what torque converter to use. This is my first auto, and I have never had to use one before. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Tom

B&M or TCI, make very good torque converters. With 3.36 gears and a cam duration of 274 degrees, it is recommended to run about 2400-2600 rpm stall speed.

Thanks Sarge. I'm looking at a B&M 2400 that should work for it . I appreciate the info.

Micko, I don't know as I haven't put the hood on it yet. I have an aftermarket L-88 hood that the guy I bought the car from gave me, so if the original hood doesn't work, I will use that. I saw your post, and was watching to see what kind of answers you got. I hope I can find an air-cleaner that will let me use the original hood.
Let me know if you find a solution. Thanks.
