Topic: Whats the diff between l-48 @ l-82s?
in Forum: C3 Engines
i was just gonna say the difference is 25 hp!
I dont mean to offend anyone... but neither one was very impressive in power...
if youre looking to buy either an l-48 or l-82 car.. I wouldnt worry about it.. youll need to tweak either one to make it respectable by modern standards and either one is a decent platform to build from.

I, personally have fallen in love with the stock 1978 - 1982 series. Of course you big block guys have gotten use to some awesome power but when you step from almost any other car into a C-3, even late 1970's, it feels as though your on top of the world. I constantly find people riding my bumper and I don't know why until I check the speedo, OOPS.... 45 mph, funny, I was flying down this road, in heaven,of course I live in Northern California and the roads are some of the best in the world . ( For corvette or motorcycle driving that is ).

The exhaust manifolds and the intake manifold were the same on the L48 and the L82. The L82 exhaust pipes jumped to 2 1/2 just after the manifolds. The L82 used the same mufflers and tail pipes as the LS-4 big block.
