I am sure this has been brought up beforebut, I am looking for some feedback on your thoughts between Eagle Cranks and Scat Cranks. I have read more bad things about Eagle than Scat. All was due to either integrety and bearing clearance problems. I found a fairly reasonable price on an Eagle kit with 4340 crank, 4340 rods, SRP Forged pistons, also all Clevite bearings and JE rings, this is in a 383 Stroker for about 1,390.00 bucks. Anyone have any ideas about the kits? "SAVETHEWAVE"

I have been trying to decide which crank to buy also, and have looked into the Scat cranks. The Scat cranks, and kits look like they are made well, but are somewhat pricey. I have not looked into the Eagle cranks so I have no opinion about them.

Last week on Hot Rod TV they showed the 383 stroker build for their project 69 Chevy II. They mentioned one might consider the Eagle Stroker Kit if you were limiting your RPM's to around 5000 and were not planning on adding a nitros system. scat is the better one for sure ,as for rods and tops there are a lot of them out there ,i have childs and elberts rods and top end keith black pistons w/speed pro rings,but eagle does make a good rod 316.00 from summit and only weight 570 grams,nice for a steel rod for tops ,ross and wiseco are nice and not a bad price ether !! hope this helps you guys out

Anything, but Stock and more mods to come!
SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
For what its worth my opinion on crankshafts are go with the best you afford. The crankshaft is the backbone of any engine and takes the most abuse. Scat makes a good crank. Eagle in the past has had quality issues, but I have not heard of any for several years now. Personally, I prefer to get a entire rotating assembly from one place. Mainly because they will balance everything and make sure everything fits together before they ship it. If you piece mill an assembly from different companies then its up to you to make sure the machine shop does their job to make sure it all goes together correctly. Its also much easier to deal with warranty and any issues you may have during assembly. If you get parts and they don't go together then you have to figure out whos is wrong, why and how to correct it. Most likely your going to pay more by getting a whole assembly from one manf., but I personally believe its worth it. Thats why I have always used Lunati and its not because I work for them, its from past experience. I'd say the same thing for Scat, Eagle, Callies, Oliver, or crower if you can get the whole assembly at the time of order, unless you just don't need everything.

Callies would have been great. I have been buying a piece at a time. Trying to keep the wife happy by not spending alot of money at one time.I have already spent my estimate (to her) of 2,000.00 bucks. Have my Holley Intake, Edelbrock carb, 186 Double Hump Heads, 64cc and 2.02 and 1.6 all new parts, block, headers, 4340 scat crank. What are your thoughts on pressed vs. floating pins? Was looking at Probe forged pistons too. Havent decided yet and is probably overkill but who knows may want to race it some day.SAVETHEWAVE
