You can rent the puller/pusher tool from autozone for free (I know, rent doesn't = for free) they put a hold on your credit card and take it off when you return the tool, or you could do like I did and by the darn thing.
I had 3 spun balancers before I got a good one. Talk about sux
There should be a hot wire going to the cap for the coil. Mine is red. It is the heaviest wire going into the cap top side area. Remove it and there is no fire for the coil.

Just remove/unhook the red wire going into the cap, that is marked "Batt".

Here's something most people for get to do when installing the timing cover. Put the cover on and two or three of the bolts/screws FINGER TIGHT. Then put the balancer on so it mates into the seal. In doing this, the seal will center itself by allowing the cover to move within the limits of the mounting screws. Once the balancer has "Centered" the seal, do up the bolts/screws so the cover can't move and take off the balancer (ifyou need to) to get all the other timing cover bolts/screws in. You will then have a seal that should not leak, as long as it is the correct size.
I always do mine in this manner and have never, ever had a front seal leak. The oil slinger helps as well.
The centering trick is from rebuilding MG engines which have to be done this way or you have heaps of trouble.
