I was offered a new ZZ-4 aluminum Intake Manifold today for $100, does anyone know for sure if this will fit on my 78, L-48, 350.
I really don't wanna change anything from stock on this engine but I've already purchased new black L-82 Valves Covers so I figured what the hell

As long as it is not for the Vortec style heads, it will bolt on. Will it offer any advantages? hmmm It might be a tad better than the manifold you have now, but don't know if it would be worth the time to swap it out. Just my 2c...

Well if it won't add anything it sure will add a ton of looks. Right now I have the stock blue (some blue left) intake manifold. I've got a new Rochester Quadrajet carb and the black powder coated L-82 VC's so it will look 100% better then the stock one I'm sure.

The ZZ4 engine does come equipped with Vortec style heads, so the intake won't fit a stock L48.
OUCH !!! That may put a damper on things, I'm gonna have to look into that. Thanks Bruce.

EDIT: Wouldn't this description make you believe this intake would fit any SB 350 engine ZZ4 Intake

That ad would definitely lead one to believe it work on non-Votec heads, but it simply ain't so. Whoever made up the ad didn't know the difference or is trying to snooker you into buying a set of Vortec heads to go with it...and along with the Vortech heads you'll need new exhaust manifolds or headers it requires to bolt up to them!
If you want to wake that L48 up without spending too much money, install an Edelbrock Performer (or equivalent) and dump the EGR and other smog stuff, install a true dual exhaust and you'll be amazed at the difference. It still won't be a race car, but once you let that L48 breath better and get the exhaust out better you'll be happier. You can always save the original parts if you ever want to go back to stock. I did all that on my '78 L82 and it runs far better in comparison to before.

Thanks again for the help Bruce. I'm really not so concerned about the power (is this a sin coming from a Corvette owner) as I am about dressing up the engine alittle without spending alotta $'s. I show my Vette all summer long and am almost embarassed to open the hood sometimes due to the condition of the VC's and intake manifold. I may look into the Edelbrock option.
If I really wanted more power I would just drop this into it and ruin the car

Bruce are you ure? I used my stock 69 exhaust manifolds on the ZZ-4 without any problems. I'm not saying I know alot about what will fix and not fit, but the stock exhaust manifolds do work.

My understanding is that the exhaust manifold will bolt up, but the exhaust ports on the Vortech heads are shaped different...not so different they won't bolt up but different enough you won't get efficient flow.
I just had a 350 HO 330hp engine with Vortech heads and Edelbrock fuel injection installed in a car, and besides the different EFI application for the Vortech heads, it took a different application set of headers to work best, though I think headers are generally made with one port shape and are fit for the car body more than the engine.
If your manifolds work...great. Most places will tell you they won't.

Maybe i'm an exception here, but my zz4 came with standard heads, aluminum 58cc heads... complete engine offered by jegs.(They are GM Crate engines) Its the 355 horsepower engine, while the 330 horse zz4 has iron heads and is a vortec design....
