Hello everyone, I just bought a new ZZ4 crate engine for my 69 coupe. Right now it has a 80 or 81 350 in it thats pretty tired. In about a week I'm going to pull that engine out and detail the engine compartment a bit before I put the ZZ4 in. Will the new engine bolt right in? I hear they drop right in with out much trouble. Will I need to change the oil pan? What about the carburator clearance, I'm having my Holley 650 double pump rebuilt. Will I have trouble with the hood? Also how can I hook up my mechanical tach to the distributor? I have a lot of questions,I know, but I would appriceate any information. I read the threads here all the time and this seems to be the right place to ask questions. Thanks for any info fellas. I'll let you know how I progress when I get started.

yes a 350 is a 350 is a 350
as for clearance.. depends on the intake.. bit i think that comes with the turnkey zz4;s wont be a problem.
mechanical tach... nope.. youll need to replace the tach with an electric OR get an aftermarket like an MSD that is both HEI and has a tach drive gear.
the man you want to ask for specifics is Ken Hughes (lostinthe60s).. he put a zz4 in his 69..
i put one in my truck.. the only issue im not suire about is the oil pan.. not sure if the pan that comes with it will fit a vette. but I dont think it will.

The oil pan is fine, will have to put a short water pump on the engine because the ZZ-4 pump is too long. Also will have to grind down the the timing cover bolts in order for the short water pump to fit....(easy to do)
If yoy have a 4-speed you will need a new flywheel.
The hood shuts fine with stock air cleaner.
Really it was an easy change over.
Feel free to E-mail me.
